Open Society Public House
To say we were excited about Open Society Public House opening last year would be a devastating understatement. I first met Brian Baker and his coffee team, well, before they were even a full team.
Before the construction was even done on the space at 49th & College, the Open Society crew was dialing in their espresso on their Modbar at Tinker Coffee on 16th. It was then that I fell in love with their passion for perfecting the specialty coffee experience. In tandem with the guys from Tinker, they taught me almost everything I know about coffee.
Open Society has, no doubt, helped shape the coffee scene in Indy with their killer drinks and drive for perfection. They work closely with the guys at Tinker and with the roaster team at Madcap in Grand Rapids.
I wish I could suggest something specific to try on their drink menu, but everything is so freakin’ good, you can’t go wrong.
Note: the Open Society gang cherishes conversation as much as they do specialty coffee, which is why they don’t have outlets throughout the space. This little detail fosters a bright and lively culture that helps us all focus on good coffee and good company.
